Western School District hosted the Region 5 Destination ImagiNation tournament on Saturday. It was a celebration of creativity for 99 teams of elementary , middle and high school students competing in six different challenges.
A big thanks to Mr. Cryderman, Mr. Ykimoff, the high school and middle school custodial staff, Mike MacGuinness and Dr. Coale for their support and hard work to make this day happen. Thank you to the Western Academic Boosters for providing the great food.
Western had seven teams competing on Saturday. Our youngest team, the Bean 2nd Grade Rising Stars, participated and had a great time. Our Bean 3rd/2nd grade team came in 5th place in their Hit Or Myth challenge. The 5th grade team placed 17th in their DI've Got A Secret challenge. Our remaining four teams will move on to state competition on April 19 at Central Michigan University. The Bean 4th Grade team placed 4th in their SWITCH challenge. The Western Middle School 6th Grade team placed 3rd in their Obstacles Of Course challenge. The Western Middle School 8th grade placed 3rd in their DI've Got A Secret challenge. The Western High School 10th grade team placed 2nd in their Chorific challenge. A great time was had by all.
